Ernest B. McCoy was dean of the School of Physical Education and Athletics (1952-1970) and Director of Athletics (1953-1970) at The Pennsylvania State University. The Pennsylvania Humanities Council designated the year 1985 as "The Year of the Pennsylvania Writer."
